A couple of foreign tourists can be seen walking along the Karola Glacier – 5,560 meters high, situated on the boundary between Nargarze and Gyangze Counties of southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region.

Here’s the Karola Glacier.

Here are the pics.

We don’t know what the glacier looks like, or how far it extends during its peak. Is it smaller now because of global warming or is it just time to be small? Last year, my wife and I took a cruise to Alaska. The glaciers there are growing. Our environmentalist couldn’t explain why.

In case you have ever been too embarrassed to ask, by the way, where is Tibet?

So, the question is “Will Sarah Palin deny that polar bears are resorting to cannibalism?” Or is it “bearbalism?”

On CNN news this morning the announcer said that Sarah Palin and presidential candidate John McCain are at odds on human caused global warming. In my mind, this is a good thing. If both of them were thinking exactly alike, one of them would be redundant, no?

Palin acknowledges climate change, melting glaciers in some parts and all that, and that the polar bears are scrambling. She doesn’t think it’s caused by humans. FWIW, I agree with her.

But, another CNN report says that the polar bears are starting to feast on one another for survival. GP wonders what Palin has to say about that. My bet is she’ll say something like, “they must be really really hungry. But, not because of human caused global warming.” Sometimes these kinds of things happen when you look at the big picture of history.

What do you think?

Perito Moreno Glacier Rupture in Winter
Image : eitb24.com

I always thought I would like to meet the guy named Tunnel. You know the first guy who thought, “We don’t need to go around this (whatever), we can go through it.” That’s my kind of person. But, what about when it’s mother nature who is doing the digging and a tunnel is really not what we want or where we want it?

That seems to be the case with the Perito Moreno Glacier. The big ice cube has experienced a rupture doing this year’s winter months in the southern hemisphere. More cause to be alarmed? Or can we just chill? Chilling, by the way, might help the world cool down a bit, no?
