Oftentimes, here at Greenpacks we write about how our animal friends don’t get their due, or are just plain mistreated.

Well, that is not always the case.

Is there a thorn here somewhere?

Repeat after me, “I wish I were a lion…I wish I were a Lion…”

A British zookeeper, Alex Larenty, (no relation to our Alex here at GP, of course) is pictured giving Jamu the lion a relaxing massage.

I wish I were a lion. I wish I were a lion.

After the massage, Jamu had dinner.

Can you imagine a fight between a dog and a lion? It’s an unfair battle! But make that a beautiful puppy and a lion cub and you have a playground. It doesn’t matter what’s going to happen in years when the lion is going to be 10 times heavier than the dog, it’s the fun they have today. It doesn’t matter who win/won, but do check out those claws … Check out more images after the jump. (more…)

Lion Feeds on Man, Part II

Well, we have already discussed a bit about when tigers eat men here at Greenpacks. And we know who the most fearsome kittens in the world are, too. Not to mention, which celebrity wants to save the giant feline. Can you say Indiana Jones? But, what happens when man becomes dinner for their cousins, the lion? A mentally-ill man in Zimbabwe was invited to dinner, as the main course, to a pride of lions. Three leg bones, two fingers, three ribs and his private parts were all that were found left of a man who was last seen at a motel. The lions spit out his blood stained clothes.

Get this… a guard saw the whole thing! The guard heard a man scream, then hid somewhere safely, peeped out and watched the lions attack the man and otherwise enjoy a free meal. With guards like that don’t we all feel safe now? It seems that once lions feed on a human, they want dessert, more humans. I think alligators are the same. What did one alligator say to the other? “I like eating people. They are chewy on the outside and crunchy on the inside.”

So, who is responsible when a human finds himself in the way of and on the unexpected dinner menu of lions, and tiger and bears? Oh, my?

“I want my mommy!”

“Doesn’t anybody love us?”

“We’re hungry!”

“I need burping!”

“Well, at least we have each other.”

“Alright guys! Let’s stick together.”

I guess I am naive enough to think that only humans can be so heartless as to turn away their own children. Not so. A white lion in Schloss-Holte Stukenbrock of Germany rejected her three cubs. What’s up with that? Let me have the little critters. Cute as can be, and whoever thought to put them on a black sheet knew what they were doing when these pix.

So, I wonder aloud here again about the whole zoo thing. Does having these little fellows in a zoo and having humans all around and such have anything to do with the momma lion turning them away? I love animals. Let’s put them back in their natural habitat. And if people want to study them…okay what’s to study. Leave them alone.

What do you think?
