General Motors to Hire 1,000 Engineers & Researchers to Expand Electric Project

General Motors will start hiring 1,000 engineers and researchers in Michigan to significantly expand its vehicle electrification expertise from today onwards as announced. It is hoping to lead in the development of electric vehicles from hybrids to electric vehicles with extended-range capability, like the Chevrolet Volt or the recently introduced eAssist technology that will debut on the 2012 Buick LaCrosse.

General Motors are ready to offer a great helping hand to the American electric vehicle industry by opening a new battery pack plant in Michigan - the nation's first such plant operated by an American automobile company. The plant is located in Brownstown Township, and will assemble batteries for the Chevrolet Volt.
