Lufthansa Plans World’s First Biofuel Passenger Flight in 2011

Germany's biggest airline, Deutsche Lufthansa plans to launch the world's first biofuel passenger flight in 2011. The flights will begin in April 2011 and continue for six months as part of a government-backed study on the long-term impact of biofuels on aircraft performance.

$1B Biodiesel Plant in Rotterdam, Netherlands

Neste Oil will invest about $1 billion to build a new biomass-to-liquid diesel plant in Rotterdam, Netherlands that will manufacture NExBTL renewable diesel fuel. The goal, 800,000 tons per year by 2011. Palm oil, rapeseed oil and animal fats will be mixed to make a high-quality diesel fuel.
