The US President Barack Obama, and Vice President Joe Biden are expected to make important announcements that will provide stimulus for a greener future. An Obama administration official has said that the President will make announcement regarding Smart Grids during his visit to Florida. Obama’s announcement of a Smart Grid will be the government’s largest investment of economic stimulus funds in clean energy.

United States President Barak Obama says that the legislation on climate change, along with his plan for fuel efficiency of automobiles, will save as much oil as the US imports from the Persian Gulf countries. Thus, President Obama said in an interview that if the proposal becomes law, the United States would greatly reduce its dependence on foreign oil.

Obama on Oil Cuts
Obama killed a fly with his bare hands.
And here we thought he was a friend to the environment, to animals and insects of all kinds.
Shows you what we know.
With pollution levels hitting record highs these days, the Obama administration decided that a nationwide high-speed rail system is a broad and strategic solution that will boost regional economies, and help reduce highway congestion and U.S. dependence on foreign oil.

And, if you think of it, that could generate thousands of construction jobs over several years, as well as permanent jobs for rail employees.
A very good solution to air or car traveling, Obama is trying to push an $8 billion stimulus package through Congress to improve existing rail lines (where trains could “fly” at 100 mph or faster) and to develop at least six high-speed corridors— which have already been identified, with Chicago the main hub.
Although the $8 billion stimulus is not enough to get everything done, Obama considers it a downpayment on the future if they can just get the program started.
Of course, the biggest problem might not be getting the money. In California, one environmental group wants the rail line to cut back on dependence on fossil fuels, whereas other environmental groups do NOT want the rail line because of the ‘cost’ to the environment to get it installed. Now what do we do ?

Uh Oh!
President Obama is expected to grant a waiver that will allow California to enforce their own greenhouse-gas emission standards. Yeah, I live in California. Good for me, right?
“That would completely change the landscape for vehicle regulation and obligate automakers to produce cars that are far more efficient than those called for under current federal standards,” the Los Angeles Times noted.
The move is aimed at the cars that are believed to create about a one-fourth of U.S. carbon emissions. The operative word in that sentence is ‘believe’ – they really don’t know.
“This is an essential piece of the nation’s environmental strategy,” says the president of the Coalition for Clean Air, said.
I wonder how much he gets paid to say that.
California’s Air Resources Board will implement and enforce the regulation.
“Environmentalists and state regulators have demanded that they be allowed to enforce their own greenhouse-gas emission standards on autos, saying the rules are key to combating global warming.”
Um, facts, please!
Until now the Bush administration has refused saying only the federal government can set car emission rules.
Automakers are calling it a nightmare scenario. They argue that compliance would create regulatory headaches and a technology burden that comes to $1,000-$5,000 more for each vehicle.
Asking carmakers to comply with California’s rules would be tantamount to forcing a cancer patient to “finish chemo and then go run the Boston Marathon,” General Motors Corp. spokesman said. “Right now, we’re just trying to make it through the current situation.”
Does anybody feel sorry for GM or any of the Big Three?
We love animals at GP, but this is ridiculous. NYC is hosting a cat show at Madison Square Gardens where cats representing John McCain ask visitors to “vote for your favorite DemoCat or Republicat.” McCain’s cat is called Renegade while the cat representing Obama is called Bombay.

There are cats selling grooming products, like Pocahontas. And a sphynx cat named Masquerade that is sure to hope Halloween will hurry up and get over. Seriously, folks. I think we should let these cats have a turn at dressing up their masters. What do you think?

McCain will be the winner in the presidential debate in Nashville when it comes to clean coal, pounding Obama (not your diamond in the rough) into a smoldering ember ready to burn out in a matter of weeks.
It won’t matter what the two say or do during the debate, the media will present Obama as the leading candidate, the winner by a slight margin.
Every media outlet will look for a survey until they find one with the results that they want to put the lump of coal, um, Obama into the lead.
It can be expected that Obama would be green with envy as Lynn Forester de Rothschild picked McCain to back in the upcoming election.
McCain told Ohioans he preferred their company to Hollywood celebs. The AP says
“Lynn Forester de Rothschild has said she thinks Democratic nominee Barack Obama is arrogant and has a problem connecting with average Americans.
Rothschild is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.”
Obama says, “Ouch!” Or does he? How much difference does the backing from Hollywood and other celebs make anyway?
Shouldn’t Obama and McCain’s positions be about the environment, energy and economy (3E’s), and education, make that 4E’s? These should/must be the deciding factors, not Matt Damon or even Baroness Lynn Forester de Rothschild? If Obama is worried about losing backers from Hollywood, he is worried about the wrong thing. McCain is definitely not courting the elite.
Here at GP, we’ll go with making decisions on the issues.
How about you?
