Sarah Palin and Beluga Whales

The US Federal government listed the beluga whales as endangered. While the beluga swims off the coast of Alaska’s largest city, Governor Sarah Palin called the listing “premature” saying she had pressed for more time to count the whales. It stands to reason that potlickers trying to gain points in Washington 5,000+ miles away would know more than a governor who lives in the area, eh? NOT!

Environmentalists hailed the decision. “Hopefully the State of Alaska will now work toward protecting the beluga rather than, as with the polar bear, denying the science and suing to overturn the listing,” said the oceans program director for the Center for Biological Diversity said in a statement.

Initial problems with the number of beluga whales was caused by over-harvesting by the region’s Native hunters.

Environmentalists also criticized Palin for causing a delay in the listing. Palin had said, “The State of Alaska has had serious concerns about the low population of belugas in Cook Inlet for many years. However, we believe that this endangered listing is premature.”

The hang up on Palin’s side – “all the legal requirements” a listing brings with it. Industry groups have also fought the listing because they fear the listing will hamper:

  1. Cook Inlet oil and gas development,
  2. cargo shipping,
  3. commercial fishing and
  4. major construction projects

So, the question is “Will Sarah Palin deny that polar bears are resorting to cannibalism?” Or is it “bearbalism?”

On CNN news this morning the announcer said that Sarah Palin and presidential candidate John McCain are at odds on human caused global warming. In my mind, this is a good thing. If both of them were thinking exactly alike, one of them would be redundant, no?

Palin acknowledges climate change, melting glaciers in some parts and all that, and that the polar bears are scrambling. She doesn’t think it’s caused by humans. FWIW, I agree with her.

But, another CNN report says that the polar bears are starting to feast on one another for survival. GP wonders what Palin has to say about that. My bet is she’ll say something like, “they must be really really hungry. But, not because of human caused global warming.” Sometimes these kinds of things happen when you look at the big picture of history.

What do you think?

Now that we do know a bit about Matt Damon, Sarah Palin and the dinosaurs, another celebrity is taking on the Alaskan Governer saying “I can’t stand her. She can suck it”. Suck what, you may ask …

However, the most interesting part is who made this juicy political commentary and why? Well guys, Pamela Anderson did in an E! network interview after being told that governor Palin has a large bearskin rug in her office.

I’m not sure how good/much she understands politics, but the pink vegetarian definitely took the bait on that one and proved that her opinions on politics are meaningless, too, I’m not sure how good she is on environment policies or if she’s just interested in animals or not, but I do have a question.

Her (probably) sudden love for animals is because she needs a better image to cover her porn history or does she really want to do something for our furry friends? Wanna guess where I put my money on?

We really think your body, hair and everything look great on you, but how about refraining yourself from political statements dear? Check out Pam … doing it.

Just for the record, Anderson is a PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) activist, and you already know what we think about their protests. Stand up people (girls)! Better get right to the point like Pam did.

Matt Damon wants to know some things about Sarah Palin.

1. Does Sarah Palin think there were dinosaurs here 4,000 years ago?

2. Can Sarah Palin use her folksy charm to face down Vladmir Putin?

3. Does Sarah Palin know how absurd she sounds? (look who’s talking)

4. Can Sarah Palin handle the nuclear codes?

5. Does Sarah Palin know he is afraid of her becoming president?

6. Sarah Palin realizes he thinks she might be the president pretty soon?

Wait a sec. The guy knows something about John McCain’s intentions that the rest of us don’t?

Does he know that Sarah Palin couldn’t give a hoot or a holler about what Matt Damon wants to know? When the Hollywood knuckleheads have to weigh in to help out the Democrats, you know the Dems are hurting. Obama? Is that the best you can do?

What I want to know, is what does Sarah Palin think about the environment? Not what she thinks about 4,000 years ago. I want to know what Obama thinks about the environment. The best we can get out of him is, “What do you want me to think?” Or “What does Sarah Palin think? I’ll think differently.”

Damon … your movies are good, but your opinions on politics are meaningless.

Sarah Palin is likely to be our next Vice President of the United States … president, too if McCain kicks the bucket in office. If so, the environmentalists will have a “killa from Wasilla” on their hands. Characterized as “cut, kill, dig and drill”…

1. Sarah Palin is against classifying the polar bear as a threatened species.

2. Sarah Palin argues the Bush administration doesn’t use the best science.

3. Sarah Palin doesn’t agree with federal marine scientists who say under the Endangered Species act that the Cook Inlet beluga whale needs protection.

4. Sarah Palin doesn’t have a problem with shooting wolves from the air to boost caribou and moose herds for hunters.

5. Sarah Palin is not convinced that global warming is the result of human activity.

6. Sarah Palin opposes increased protection of salmon streams from mining operations.

7. Sarah Palin is a hockey mom who can handle a gun, dress a moose and do commercial fishing.

8. Sarah Palin says those in the 48 States don’t understand the North Country.

CA Rep Miller “doesn’t understand rural Alaska, doesn’t comprehend wildlife management in the North, and doesn’t appreciate the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution that gives states the right to manage their own affairs,” Palin said in a press release a year ago.

Let’s see … who do we listen to? Someone who lives there or someone from CA who is far removed?
