LED technology has been developing very rapidly lately, and it’s nearing the point where we’ll be using LED-based lightbulbs for most of the lighting in our homes. ISuppli, a semiconductor research company have predicted a growth in their LED lights sales for the next three years that goes into the double digits.
LEDs are already being used in many places you may not realize – street lights, flatscreen TV sets. It’s inevitable that it’ll soon be a popular choice to buy LED-based light bulbs instead of traditional incandescent ones. The main issue which stops most people right now is the pricing – LED light bulbs cost significantly more than incandescent ones. However, if you take the time to do some simple maths, you’ll find out that buying an LED light bulb will actually save you money in the long run – and a lot of it.
There are already 40- and 60-watt variants, with the 60-watt ones consuming only 6 watts. But when you hear that you’ll be asked to pay $50 for it, you can understand why most people are still reluctant to try this technology and incorporate it into their lives.
