The Hikari no Tokei Gate at the Seibu Ikebukuro flagship store features an incredible new LED clock. This is viewed as a different initiative in place of the usual stone fountains that serve as the centerpieces of most of the modern shopping centers. The underutilized space is taken to a whole new level by Yugo Nakamura and Yukihiro Takahashi who created the futuristic clock in front of the flagship store in Tokyo, Japan. This wonderful structure features a full-on animated LED light show which is therefore happens to be not just a clock tower.
The term “Hikari No Tokei” means Clock of Light. This clock has no face. It welcomes customers to the Seibu departmental store in Ikebukuro, Japan with the time and some music too.
The massive timepiece structure features four LED surfaces on which the current time is expressed in motion typography, changing proportions at every second. The monument features time-announcement of synchronized music and motion every hour.
It is made up of eleven thousand LED bulbs that display the time all over the pillar-like clock. Besides being a giant showpiece, the clock also plays some brilliant music as the store opens up. The music is produced by Yukihiro Takahashi.
