Tesla Motors is likely to use their third generation electric vehicles platform for a new crossover as well as a sedan in future. The company’s shareholder meeting held recently discussed sales projections and other future ventures.

The details of different body types and associated details regarding this future venture was discussed. Though the CEO kept further details unmentioned, he stated that the company expects Gen III production to be an order of magnitude greater than that of the Model S sedan and the Model X SUV, which shares the former’s platform.

Tesla also has plans to make the upcoming cars about 40 percent less expensive. The company believe that this decision would definitely boost their sales.

Nothing in particular on the next generation of Tesla sports car was mentioned during the meet. Rumor has it that the new vehicle might come by 2014.
